Trimide 550
Non Reactive Polyamide Resin - Co-solvent Soluble
Introduction: Polyamide Resin is considered as the traditional polyamide ink binder. It is particularly suited for the production of gravure inks and the resin is characterized by its:
- Excellent resistance to blocking
- Good solvent release
- Good water resistance
- Poor tolerance to polar solvents
Typical Properties:
Appearance |
Clear Yellow Solids |
Softening point (Deg. C) |
105 – 115 |
Acid value (mgkoH/g) |
3 – 5 |
Amine value (mgkoH/g) |
1 – 3 |
Viscosity (mPa.s/25 Deg. C) |
210 – 240 |
Freezing point (Deg. C) |
- 0.5 |
Gardener Scale colour (40% Solution in Co-Solvents) |
Max. 8 |
Application: It is used in Printing Inks (Flexo and Gravure). Incorporation of Phenolic Resin will improve the performance characteristics of the resulting inks or lacquers. For optimum solubility, blends of alcohol and hydrocarbons are recommended.
Trimide 555
Non Reactive Polyamide Resin – Alcohol Soluble
Introduction: Trimide 555 is a general purpose alcohol soluble polyamide Resin for flexographic packaging inks. Lower levels of nitro cellulose are required for optimum performance.
Typical Properties:
Appearance |
Clear Yellow Solids |
Softening point (Deg. C) |
105 – 115 |
Acid value (mgkoH/g) |
4 – 7 |
Amine value (mgkoH/g) |
4 – 7 |
Viscosity (mPa.s/25 Deg. C) |
80– 100 |
Gardener Scale colour (40% Solution in Co-Solvents) |
Max. 8 |
Application: With relatively low levels of nitro cellulose Trimide 555 exhibits excellent antiblocking characteristics and water resistance. Gelation resistance is excellent and Trimide 555 can be considered a general purpose resin for flexographic polyamide based ink applications. |
